I bought the new Ping when it came out. Great club. Forgiving as a mail order fiancée. The forgiveness is handy when you want to make a hernia swing. Highly recommend.

Thanks George. I might have to borrow that line from you some time 🤣🤣

Great comprehensive read Keith. I had completely the opposite result to you when I tried out a couple of drivers to compare to the GT3 recently. Qi4D I liked most, and the Cally (TDMax) least - but again like you said I think that was down to the shaft. I've got a different shaft in the Cally now and am hoping to see if that improves it...

As you know I'm more of a fairway finder than big hitter, but surely giving up 15yards is a bit too much to hit the fairway? That's a club and a half more into every green. Propper fitting may be required there to bring the spin back to reasonable numbers.

Absolutely. Like I said in the review, it's important to note that the Craigtoun fairways were soft, so what I saw there was really just reflective of carry distances with each club. The Cobra has the edge on total distance and spin, but the Ping merits a second look and I've arranged to test the 9° head once the new GTS line from Titleist is also available.

Great review, a really insightful and enjoyable read, thank you.

I previously mentioned I was looking at upgrading my Driver/3wood set up after moving back to the old Cobra F8+ after a tumultuous time in the Sim2. I attended a TaylorMade demo day at my club on Tuesday and have now moved away from the Driver/3Wood combo, replacing both with the TaylorMade R7 Quad Mini, quite a change I know, I was more consistent whilst carrying similar to Driver but a lot more than 3Wood.

Mini drivers are a great solution for many. I enjoyed the R7 mini when I tried my friends one last year.
